Administration
Fenchugonj thana was established in 1907 and was turned into an upazila in 1980. The upazila consists of 3 union parishad, 30 mouza's and 88 villages. It has a population of 81605 of which male 51.07% and female 48.93%, (Muslim 88.72%, Hindu11.25%, Buddist and Christian 0.03%).

Value of land: Market value of first grade agricultural land is Tk 4500 per 0.01 hectares.
Main crops: wheat, mustard, Paddy, lentil,sugarcane,groundnut and potato.

Mineral resources : Gas field 1
Markets( bazar), and fairs: 16 bazar, 3 fair, fenchugonj and maij gaon bazar are notable.
Main exports: Natural gas, tea, rubber, fertilizer, shital pati.
